Water Utility is Looking for Homes for Study
Was your house built between 1983 and 1987? Columbia County Water Utility would like to invite customers with homes built in that timeframe to participate in future studies for determining interior water quality for lead and copper. There is no lead or copper in the treated water leaving the County’s water plants; however, lead in the plumbing and fixtures of older homes may leach into water that stands in the pipes for several hours.
Qualifying applicants must have homes built from 1983 through 1987 that contain copper plumbing. Applicants chosen for this study will receive sample bottles, detailed instructions for collecting the sample, and the results of the testing all free of charge.
Customers who are interested in participating are invited to contact the Water Utility’s Central Laboratory at 706-868-3460. You can also contact the Lab manager (Rodney Silvey) by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
