The beautiful Savannah Rapids Park is a 33 acre passive recreation park that has a wide variety of opportunities available for the outdoorsman seeking a respite close to home.  The home of the Savannah Rapids Pavilion and the Historic Augusta Canal Headgates, the Savannah Rapids Park now offers three new picnic pavilions available for rent beginning on August 1, 2010.  Whether you're seeking a location for your formal wedding reception or a rustic outdoor picnic, the Savannah Rapids Park has what you're looking for.

Reed Creek FallsThis newly developed area overlooks the picturesque Reed Creek Falls as it flows into the Historic Augusta Canal.  While you're at the park you may choose to cross the pedestrian bridge and begin the 7.5 mile walk that could take you all the way to Augusta.  Or you may simply chose to sit along the banks of Reed Creek and listen to the water rushing past.

Magnolia Pavilion

The three picnic pavilions offer barbecue grills, lights, overhead fans, picnic tables and wonderful views of the surrounding area, Two pavilions 20' x 20' (Overlook and Creekview) can accommodate smaller groups of approximately 15-25 guests.  The Magnolia Pavilion is larger (20' x 40'), and is handicap accessible, Named for the naturally growing Magnolia trees surrounding this large pavilion, it is tucked away to offer its guests the atmosphere and privacy for a family gathering of approximately 40 - 50.

Call for more information on how you can reserve one, or all of these pavilions for your private event.  This area is also available for public fundraising efforts, you can email for more information or call 706.868.3349.

No restrooms are available in this newly developed area of the park however, restrooms remain open, beneath the Dance Pavilion in the Historic section, until 11:00 pm.  Restrooms have been designed and construction will begin approximately August of 2011.
