Columbia County Board of Tax Assessors
The Columbia County Board of Assessors is tasked with determining fair market values for all real and personal property in the county. The Board is responsible for preparing a fair and equitable tax digest in accordance with Georgia law.
Smartfile - Personal Property Return E-filing
Use Smartfile to quickly and easily file your Business or Marine personal property return. In order to file electronically, you will need to create an account and use the PIN included on the insert mailed along with the Personal Property Return form. Returns are to be filed between January 1st and April 1st of each year.

Notice to Property Owners and Occupants
In accordance with Georgia Law (OCGA 48-5-264.1), please be advised the Columbia County Appraisal Staff may be visiting your property. The purpose of the visit is to review and update property record information, which enables our office to more accurately determine fair market values and/or make other determinations as required by law. You are not required to be at home for the visit, a door hanger and business card will be left if the appraiser requires additional information. An interior inspection may be required with the owner's consent.
The appraiser will have a Columbia County photo identification badge, Tax Assessor uniform shirt or jacket, and will be driving a Columbia County marked vehicle. If there is a question about their identity, or if there are any other questions or concerns regarding this visit, please contact the Columbia County Assessors' office at 706-312-7474.
