The mission of the Columbia Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office - Victim Witness Assistance Program is threefold: to provide quality and compassionate support and assistance to persons experiencing criminal victimization, to keep victims informed as to case status, and to guide victims throughout the process as we pursue justice. The Program affords all rights and privileges to crime victims as set forth in the Crime Victims’ Bill of Rights in an effort to increase victims’ understanding of, and participation in, the criminal justice process. Direct services are provided to both felony and misdemeanor crime victims within the Circuit. The Program provides a multitude of services, including, but not limited to, notification of case specific information, personal advocacy, preparation for and orientation to the criminal court system, community referrals, and post-adjudication assistance.
