When to Apply

Licenses are issued Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

What to Bring

• ID for each Person - A government-issued ID such as a Driver's License, State ID, Military ID, or Passport.
• Divorce Papers if you have previously been Married
• Death Certificate if you are Widowed

Required Information

Information you will need to know on your application includes:

• Parents' Birthplace (City and State)
• Mother's Maiden Name
• Date and location of marriage: Must be in Georgia

Cost

The marriage license cost is $56 or $16 with Premarital Counseling. Click Premarital Counseling Certificate to print the form.

Payment must be cash, money order, or credit card (with a convenience fee). Please note we do not accept tap payments.

Additional Information

A county copy of the marriage license must be returned to the Probate Court prior to receiving a certified copy of the marriage license. 

You can obtain a certified copy of the marriage license in person or online. The cost is $10 per copy. You will need this to change your social security card and driver's license. Click Certified Copy of the Marriage License to apply online.

Please note, this court never issues a marriage certificate only certified copy of marriage license.
